Frequently asked questions about Godoj

Everything people ask before they start talking. And if something is missing here, the founder answers your questions personally, not a bot.

What is Godoj?

Godoj is a speaking-first language learning app. Instead of flashcards, you hold a real spoken conversation with an AI tutor, and an AI model instantly analyzes what you said and shows you what to improve. The name comes from the Silesian word godoj, meaning speak. Godoj offers 14 languages and 30 AI tutors, currently in open beta with limited seats.

What does a lesson look like?

A lesson is a spoken conversation. You open the app in your browser, pick the topic of the day or free conversation, and talk with the AI tutor like with a person. Afterwards, AI analyzes the transcript and shows a summary: fluency score, mistakes with corrected forms, new vocabulary and a level recommendation.

Who leads the conversations? Is it a real person?

The conversation is led by an AI tutor: a voice AI that sounds like a native speaker and responds in real time. A second, separate AI model analyzes your speech after the lesson. The result is a personal native speaker available 24/7, no scheduling.

Do I need to know the language before I start?

No. Godoj works from A1 to C2. At lower levels the tutor speaks slower, uses simple sentences and helps when you get stuck. You can change your level anytime or accept the AI's recommendation after lessons.

Which languages can I learn?

14 languages: English (US and UK variants), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Polish, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Hebrew. Every language has at least two AI tutors, 30 voices in total.

Method and progress

How is Godoj different from Duolingo?

Unlike Duolingo, in Godoj you talk instead of tapping. The unit of progress is minutes of real speaking, not points. You can finish a long streak in a flashcard app and still freeze in a conversation; Godoj trains exactly the skill that's missing.

How is Godoj different from a tutor?

A tutor is great, but expensive and requires scheduling. Godoj is available always, at 11pm or 7 minutes before a meeting, and costs a fraction of the price. After every conversation you get specific AI analysis, so no minute of speaking is wasted.

Does Godoj correct my mistakes?

Yes, in two ways. During the conversation the tutor naturally models the correct forms, and after the lesson you get an analysis with specific mistakes and their corrections. It's feedback, not grading: the goal is fluency, not perfection.

How much time per day is enough?

Even 10 minutes of conversation 2-3 times a week produces visible results, because it's active speaking, not passive scrolling. The average lesson in the Godoj beta is about 7 minutes. Consistency beats long sessions.

Does the app track my level and vocabulary?

Yes. After every lesson, AI scores fluency, collects new vocabulary and recommends a level. Words that gave you trouble get woven into your next conversations, and once you use them yourself they earn a star. You see lesson history, streaks and a vocabulary list with pronunciation recorded in your tutor's voice.

How much does Godoj cost?

You start free: 30 minutes of conversation over 14 days, no card. Then the 90-minute pack at 89 PLN (about €21) a month, or the 250-minute pack at 179 PLN (about €42), up to 3 languages. A 20 minute top-up costs 29 PLN. During beta, plans are half price for the first 3 months.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new account gets 30 minutes of real conversation to use within 14 days, in one chosen language. No card required.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, anytime, with one click in settings. The plan runs until the end of the paid period and simply doesn't renew.

What do I need to run Godoj?

Godoj runs in the browser, on desktop and on your phone. Nothing to install; you just need a microphone and a few quiet minutes. Conversations work best with headphones.

What happens to recordings of my conversations?

Conversations are transcribed so the AI can prepare your analysis and track progress. Your lessons are private and visible only to you. The details are described in the privacy policy on godoj.co.
