Your personal native speaker 🇬🇷
Speak Greek from minute one
Greek is friendlier than its alphabet looks: the letters take a weekend, and the spoken language is surprisingly regular to the ear. In Godoj you talk with Eleni or Nikos out loud from lesson one, at your level, and AI analyzes every conversation: pronunciation, endings and the words worth keeping.

How it works
Pick, talk, improve.
01Pick a tutor
A male or female voice. Every tutor sounds like a native speaker and adapts to your level, from A1 to C2.
02Talk
A fresh conversation topic every day, or free chat about anything. You speak out loud, whenever you want, no scheduling.
03Get feedback
After every conversation, AI analyzes what you said: fluency, mistakes with corrected forms, and new vocabulary.
Start
Your first sentences in Greek
Enough to keep the first conversation from stalling. The tutor understands you even when these come out imperfect.
- Γεια σου
- Hello
- Τι κάνεις;
- How are you?
- Δεν καταλαβαίνω
- I don't understand
- Μπορείς να το πεις ξανά;
- Could you repeat that?
- Ευχαριστώ
- Thank you
- Πόσο κάνει;
- How much is it?
yia sou
ti kanis?
den katalaveno
boris na to pis xana?
efharisto
poso kani?
Six sentences on a screen are not a conversation. Said out loud to a tutor in Greek, they are.

The hard part of Greek
A new alphabet, stress written on every word because it changes meaning, three genders and four cases. Verb endings carry a lot of information, so an unfamiliar ending can hide a word you already know.
What is easier than people expect
Pronunciation is regular and the stress is marked for you, so you always know how to say a word you have just read. English borrowed thousands of words from Greek, which means abstract and scientific vocabulary is often already yours.
A1 - C2
What a Greek conversation looks like at each level
At A1 you greet people, introduce yourself, order at a taverna, handle numbers and prices and ask for directions.
At A2 you describe your day, make plans, deal with shopping and travel and tell simple stories about the past.
At B1 you give opinions with reasons, hold a work conversation, explain a problem and follow a fast speaker.
At B2 you handle register and idiom, catch humour, argue a position and keep up with several people at a table.
At C1 you present to a room, use the case system without hesitation and follow speech that runs words together.
At C2 you carry nuance and irony, and formal Greek and everyday Greek are both available to you on demand.
You do not have to guess your own level. The tutor works it out during the first conversation and adjusts speed and vocabulary from there.

FAQ
Questions about learning Greek
How long does it take to learn Greek?
Comfortable everyday conversation (roughly CEFR B1) usually takes about 500-600 hours of study, and professional working proficiency about 1100 hours. Those are the orders of magnitude from the US Foreign Service Institute tables, measured for English-speaking learners, so treat them as a reference point rather than a promise. What moves the number is how many of those hours you spend actually speaking: 10 minutes of conversation a day gets you further than an hour of passive review once a week.
Do I need to learn the writing system before I start speaking Greek?
No. The Greek alphabet has 24 letters and most people are reading them within days. The conversation is spoken, so the script catches up alongside it, at your own pace.
Do I need the Greek alphabet before I start?
No. The conversation is spoken, so you start talking in lesson one. The alphabet is worth picking up in your first weeks: it takes a few hours and makes transcripts and vocabulary easy to read.
Is Greek useful beyond holidays?
Yes. Greeks reward every attempt to speak instantly: a few sentences are enough to make the conversation warm and patient. It is also a gateway to a rich culture and the roots of much of Europe's scientific vocabulary.
Which variety of Greek do the tutors speak?
The tutors stay in one variety throughout: standard Modern Greek. Every language has a female and a male voice, so you hear two different timbres and two speaking speeds rather than one recording on repeat.
Can I practise speaking Greek on my own, without a conversation partner?
That is the whole point of the app. The AI tutor picks up at any hour, with nothing to schedule and nobody to find, and a session can run 5 minutes or half an hour. It does not judge, does not sigh, and you can ask it to repeat something ten times in a row. After the conversation you get an analysis: what went well, where the mistakes were, and which words you were missing.
Is an AI tutor enough to learn Greek, or do I need a native speaker?
For daily speaking practice AI is enough, and it has one advantage over a person: it is available in the 10 free minutes you actually have. We do not pretend it replaces a teacher, though. A human reads your goal better, runs a longer programme, prepares you for an exam and catches cultural nuance. The healthiest setup is AI every day plus a human every so often, if you can have both.
What level do I need to start?
Any level from zero to C2. At A1 the tutor speaks slowly in short, simple sentences, helps when you get stuck, and gradually builds up your answers. You can change your level anytime or follow the AI's recommendation after lessons.
How much does it cost?
You start free: 10 minutes of conversation over 7 days, no card required. Then the 90-minute plan at $24 (€20) a month, or the 250-minute plan at $48 (€40), up to 3 languages.
